Billy Faye Murphy, 76, of Hamburg, died Friday, June 23, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Murphy was a native and lifelong resident of the Milo Community outside of Hamburg. He was a logger and a member of the Egypt Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of the Long Ears Wagon Train, the Milo Riding Club and the Twin Prairie Hunting Club. His passion was driving and riding mules, hunting and quarter horses. He loved his family, riding in his wagon and enjoyed talking and telling stories of things and times of long ago.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Buck & Feddie Amos Murphy and three brothers, Robert Dennis, James Edward “Dick” and W.E. “Hoss” Murphy.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Glenda Crawford Murphy; two daughters, Christy Scroggins and husband, Freddy, and Carol Ann Murphy and husband, Roy, all of Hamburg; four brothers, Ed Murphy and wife, Betty, of Hamburg, Jerry Murphy and wife, Linda, of Albany, Georgia, Harold “Sugar” Murphy and wife, Shirley, of Louisiana and Doyle Murphy and wife, Beverly, of Bastrop, Louisiana; a sister, Bernice Cunningham and husband, Robbie, of Hamburg; a sister-in-law, Marsha Parker; two granddaughters, Haley Moyer and husband, Adam, and Cami Murphy; a great-grandson, Caden Moyer and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Monday, June 26, 2017 in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ferrell Breshears officiating. Burial will be in the Dailey Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ronnie Livingston, Terry Livingston, Wade Pennington, Bob Berryman, Eddie Wayne Burch, Junior Jeffers, Frankie White and Danny Stanley. Honorary pallbearers are Long Ears Wagon Train Members, Clifford Bowden, Roy Rogers, David Ball, Steven Kibodeaux, Wayne Davis, John Wayne Ross, Jeff Ross and Frank Moffatt. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
