Wilbert P. “Bully” Fitch, 74, of Fountain Hill, died Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. Mr. Fitch was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana; a resident of Fountain Hill for the past 24 years and a former resident of Houma, Louisiana for many years. He worked as a tug boat Captain and a truck driver. He was a member of the Hamburg First United Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed cooking Cajun food for his family and friends and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a grandson, Nicholas Nutter; his parents, Alvin and Angelle Trosclair Fitch; two brothers, Joseph and Evans Fitch and three sisters, Lillia Darcey, Eva Marcel and Vivian Fitch.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Annie Pruitt Fitch of Fountain Hill; three sons, Paul Fitch of Houma, Louisiana, Brandon Fitch and wife, Traci, of Crossett and Mike Fitch of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; five daughters, Gwen Billiot and husband, Robert, Cynthia Bourgeois and husband, Jerard, and Connie Fitch of all of Houma, Louisiana, Paulette Lirette of Hamburg and Paula Verdin and husband, Elton Wayne, of Houma, Louisiana; two sisters, Willa Bobin Leco and husband, Greg, and Wilma Labiche all of Houma, Louisiana; 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Tim Simon and the staff of Drew Memorial Hospital for the loving and compassionate care he received.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Thursday, October 12, 2017 in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Randy Russell, Bro. Stan Keely and Bro. Charles Townsend officiating. Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery. Pallbearers are Seth Townsend, Rusty Crum, Chance Ray, Justin Leslie, Dakota Fitch and Austin Fitch. Honorary pallbearers are Donnie Swan, Harold Pruitt, Lee Whitaker, Travis Sowyers, Randy Pruitt, Rodney Pruitt and Ricky Pruitt. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
