My cous and I have had a lot of good memories to share over the years. I never dreamed that the last time we phone chatted would be the last time on this earth that we would get to exchange family news. I know you are with Erma Jean in heaven and ya'll are enjoying each other as God called her home in her early years. Marilyn, I want to let you know we all have you and Dorthy Mae and the rest of the family in our thoughts and prayers. We love ya'll, Esther

My heart is sad this morning as I think of the loss of Velma Ruth. She was four years older than me. She and I always had a good time together at our Bates family reunions. She always had a hug , a smile and " I love you" for me. I have missed her over the years.

Marilyn, Shawn, and Brandy,
I wish I could say something to you to make you not feel the pain of loss, but I can't. You have lost a sweet and loving soul, whom I don't think I ever saw without a smile on her face, a laugh coming from her throat, and her arms outstretched for a long lingering hug. We will all miss her. You have such good memories of her and the warm feelings of love for you and that she in turn gave back far outweigh the pain of loss. May God be with you all during this time and comfort you by wrapping his loving arms around you and drawing you close to Him. She was a remarkable lady and we will miss her. Love to all of you!!
