Sidney A. Sammons, 82, of Bastrop, Louisiana, died Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Sammons was a native of Wilmot, Arkansas; a resident of Bastrop, Louisiana for the past eight years and a former resident of Houston, Texas for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was the owner of S.A. Sammons Air Conditioning and Heating in Houston, Texas for over 40 years.
He is preceded in death by two sons, John and Stewart Sammons; his parents, Colvin and Mamie Haynes Sammons; three brothers, Lacloys, Dupree and Olvis Sammons and a sister, Bea Myers Herron.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dolly Buffington Sammons of Bastrop, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Kevin Sammons of Los Cruces, New Mexico, Brian Sammons of Georgetown, Texas, Jason Sammons of League City, Texas, Darcy Sammons of New Braunfels, Texas and Shane Sammons of Houston, Texas; a special niece, Laura Etheridge of Bastrop, Louisiana; 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services are 3 p.m., Thursday, September 15, 2016 in the Hamburg Cemetery with Bro. Joel Meredith officiating.
