Dell Englerth Guy

May 28, 1932 ~ May 2, 2015 (age 82) 82 Years Old


             Dell Englerth Guy, 82, of Monticello, Indiana, died Saturday, May 2, 2015 at her residence. She was born on May 28, 1932 in Wilmot, Arkansas. Mrs. Guy started out as a telephone operator in Shreveport, Louisiana. Due to her husband’s Air Force career, they moved many times living in Arkansas, Louisiana, England, California, Germany and Ohio.  They finally settled in Monticello, Indiana in the fall of 1967. Dell had a long work history working in the White County Recorders office, and served two terms as White County Auditor. In her late 40's, she went back to college and became a paralegal and worked for ten years for Courtney Justice Law office in Logansport, Indiana. She received her Associates Degree of Science majoring in paralegal studies from Vincennes University. She and her husband co-owned a concession stand at Indiana Beach from 1975 until her retirement in 2009. Mrs. Guy was instrumental with the Arbor Day Society in getting the flowering trees planted around the city. She was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church and enjoyed history, reading, traveling, gardening and cherished time with her family. Her favorite holiday was Christmas.

            She is preceded in death by daughter, Sandy Guy; her parents, Emmett Englerth and Lois Crossley Englerth Nixon and brother, Harold Englerth.

            She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert “Bob” Guy of Monticello, Indiana; a son, Jack Guy and wife, Brenda, of South Bend, three daughters, Connie Hardin and husband, Gary, and Mindy Guy-Price and husband, Ron, all of Kilgore, Texas, Laura Vaughan and husband, Chad Collier of Fischers, Indiana; a brother, Harry Englerth of Roanoake, Virginia; two sisters, Billie Oliver and husband Victor, of Bismarck, Arkansas and Ruth Hendricks of Monroe, Louisiana; five grandsons, Wes Hardin, Robert Price, Matt Hardin, Mike Guy, and Mark Guy; and long time special friend, Lana Paxson and husband, William "Bo" Cowger, of Monticello, Indiana.

            Graveside funeral services and burial will be at 2 pm, Friday, May 8, 2015 in the Wilmot Cemetery with Rev. Carols Pitts officiating.
