Bessie Shelton, 92, of Hamburg, died Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Belle View Estates Rehabilitation and Care Center in Monticello. Mrs. Shelton was a native and life long resident of Ashley County and Hamburg. She worked at the Catfish Inn, Ashley Chicot Electric Cooperative and Boyd Nichols Store in Fountain Hill. She was a member of the Eden Baptist Church. She loved working in her yard and in her flowers.
She is preceded in death by her husband, E. C. “Bunk” Shelton in 2006; a son-in-law, Jimmy McKinney; her parents, John and Willie Craig Reemes and a brother, Harvey Wilder.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn McKinney of Hamburg and Linda Huffman and husband, Bruce, of Monticello; four grandchildren, James S. McKinney of Hamburg, Chris Huffman of Benton, Chad Huffman of Fresco, Texas and Brad Huffman of Sumter, South Carolina and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Sunday, May 8, 2016 at the Eden Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Watt and Rev. J. W. Dobbins officiating. Burial will be in the Eden Cemetery. Pallbearers are James McKinney, Chris Huffman, Brad Huffman, Chad Huffman, Andy Riels and Dennis Ellis. Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of Eden Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Eden Cemetery Association, c/o Mr. Jerry Stanley, 747 HWY 8 West, Hamburg, AR 71646.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
