Woody Lamar Woods, 75, of Hamburg, died Sunday, August 20, 2023, at the Blossoms at Hot Springs Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Mr. Woods was a native of Dermott, a resident of Hamburg for most of his life, and a 1966 graduate of Hamburg High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Woods worked with his father for many years as a Mechanic at Woody’s Exxon and later in his life he worked as a Front-end Specialist with Pennington Tire until he became disabled. He was an avid hunter and he enjoyed riding horses, rebuilding guns and old motorcycles. When he was able, he loved to ride his Harley Davidson.
He is preceded in death by a son, Anthony Lane Woods, in 1996; his father, Woodie Oliver Woods, in 1994; and his step-father, Bro. Eugene Howie in 2020.
He is survived by his daughter, Kara Wahn, and husband, Frithjof “Frito,” of Kattendorf, Germany; his mother, Don Dena Jackson Woods Howie of Crossett; a sister, Anne Woods Carpenter, and husband, Bruce, all of Crossett; a brother, Tommy Woods and wife, Karen, of San Antonio, Texas; proud grandfather to his two granddaughters, Erika Wahn and Emily Wahn and a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are 10 a.m., Saturday, September 2, 2023, in the Hamburg Cemetery with Bro. Clayton Hales officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 6675-8516.
