William Glynn “Bill” Carpenter, 82, of Booneville, stepped into eternity, surrounded by his family and friends, on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at the Arkansas Extended Care Hospital in Hot Springs. Mr. Carpenter was involved in an accident on April 6, 2024, from which he never recovered. He was a 1968 graduate of the University of Arkansas School of Pharmacy and worked as a Pharmacist for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Booneville, where he sang in the choir and regularly attended Sunday school. Mr. Carpenter loved his church family and their fellowship. He was an avid cutting horse breeder and enjoyed showing his horses. Mr. Carpenter was a member of the National Cutting Horse Association for 51 years, served on their Board of Directors for 20 years, and was a Judge for 30 years. He was a larger-than-life type of man. He loved life, and everybody that was around him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Glynn “Poe” and Mildred White Carpenter, and an infant brother, Bobby Carpenter.
He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Jane Carpenter; his son, Michael Carpenter and wife, Amy; four grandchildren, Greg Carpenter and wife, Courtney, Blade Carpenter and wife, Shirshe, Jace Carpenter, and Katelyn Strother and husband, Chance; six great-grandchildren, Mila, Audrianna, Dovey, Cutter, Mason, and Blayden.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church with Chaplin Steven Kelley and Bro. Bill Elton officiating. Burial will be in the Promise Land Cemetery. Pallbearers are Blade Carpenter, Gregory Carpenter, Robert Epps, Gerald Aleshire, Chance Strother, and Corey Morris. Honorary pallbearers are Harold Franklin, Louis Wray, Gayle Allen, John Ed Andrews, Jack Shell, Scutter Kilcrease, and Dan Bonnett. Memorials may be made to the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church, 765 Ashley Road 70, Hamburg, AR 71646, or to the First Baptist Church, 382 N. Kennedy Avenue, Booneville, AR 72927.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
