Wade McDonald, 50, of Hamburg, died Sunday, July 2, 2023, at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. Mr. McDonald was born and raised in Hamburg. He was a 1991 graduate of Montrose Academy and a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Monticello with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education Degree. While Mr. McDonald worked in the farming industry for the last several years, he loved helping kids in sports and followed his calling when he became a football and baseball coach for over 20 years. He also was a little league coach and umpire in Arkansas and Louisiana, for many years. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed playing golf and looked forward to deer season when he could take his son and nephews on their annual hunting trip. He liked to listen to Drivetime Sports and was a fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks. He attended Martinville Baptist Church. Mr. McDonald loved his Mamaw’s cooking and his Redbone dog, Piper, but above all, he loved and was very proud of his children, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Rev. Charles H. and Bobbie Judkins Pullin and Dorothy McDonald, and his aunt, Phyllis Jones.
He is survived by his son, Carson McDonald of Jonesboro; his daughter, Daley McDonald of Fayetteville; his parents, Steve and Debbie Pullin McDonald of Hamburg; his sister, Hope Shaver and husband, Joe, of Fountain Hill; his fiance, Andi Smith of Portland; three nephews, Cole Shaver and wife, Bailey, Brayden Shaver, and Charlie Shaver; a niece, Gracie Shaver; a great-niece, Riley Shaver; and his lifelong best friend whom he thought of as a brother, Richard Smith and wife, Abby, of Hamburg.
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Thursday, July 6, 2023, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Clayton Hales officiating. Burial will be in the Promise Land Cemetery. Pallbearers are Richard Smith, Logan Smith, Grant Smith, James Adcock, Matt Goodwin, and Bain Young. Honorary pallbearers are Matt Gilliam, Joe Shaver and Cole Shaver.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
