Virginia Lou Grimes, 78, of Portland, died Tuesday, August 24, 2021, in Crossett. Mrs. Grimes was a native of England, Arkansas and a resident of Portland for over 60 years. She graduated from Portland High School in 1960 and was a member of the Portland Baptist Church. Mrs. Grimes enjoyed shopping and traveling but, everything revolved around her children and grandchildren and she loved to take them anywhere and everywhere she could.
She is preceded in death by a daughter, Gina Smith in 1992; her father, Bob Fisher in 2013 and a sister, Pat Tumlison in 2007.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James William “Billy” Grimes of Portland; her daughter, Terri Foster and husband, Donnie, of McGehee; her mother, Billie Jean Hughes Fisher of Portland; her sister, Dorothy Littleton of Louisiana; her brother, Bobby Fisher and wife, Twyla, of Portland; her granddaughter, Ashley Sawyer and fiance, Michael McVey; two great-granddaughters, Kayley Osgood and Myllycent Osgood; a special niece and her daughter, Cindy Furr and Brittany Wooden.
Memorial services are 2 p.m., Friday, August 27, 2021, at the Portland Baptist Church with Bro. Mark Harris officiating. A private burial will be in the Portland Cemetery at a later date. Honorary pallbearers are David Robinson, Icer Crouse, Larry Tipps, Kevin Dugan, Tony Vestal and Tommy Moyers. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
