Vernelle Hollis, 89, of Hamburg, died Saturday, July 4, 2020. Mrs. Hollis was a native of Crossett and a resident of the Milo Community outside of Hamburg for the past 69 years. A 1949 graduate of Crossett High School, Mrs. Hollis was a homemaker, secretary for the Crossroads Cemetery Association for many years and an active member of the Mount Pleasant Free Will Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Glenn Hollis in 2014; her father, Prentiss Gibson, her mother, Maude Fitzgerald Gibson Harris and two brothers, Edward Gibson and Jimmy Harris.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda Stodghill and husband, William, of Rayville, Louisiana, Cheryl Kelley and husband, Mike, of Crossett and Marcia Alexander and husband, Bruce, of Hamburg; a brother, David Harris and wife, Yolenda, of Bossier City, Louisiana; 7 grandchildren, Rodney Burchell, Mark Burchell, Candace Latiolais, Crystal Breen, Brice Alexander, Hollie Smith and Zachary Alexander; 17 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are 10 a.m., Thursday, July 9, 2020, in the Crossroads Cemetery with Bro. Keith Boseman and Bro. Scott Wheeler officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Randall Meeks, Scott Richardson, Mike Kelley, Lathon Latiolais, Tommy Thompson, and Ronnie Bozeman.
Visitation will be 9:45-10 a.m., Thursday at the cemetery.
