Obituary

Tommy Glen Strebeck, age 79, of Crossett, departed this world Saturday, June 17, 2023, in Little Rock, surrounded by his family.  Mr. Strebeck was born November 1, 1943, in Crossett to Sam and Eunice Scarlett Strebeck. He served in the Army Reserves for six years and on March 27, 1964, he married his best friend and soulmate, Gayle Humphrey Strebeck, a love affair that would last 55 years. Mr. Strebeck and his wife, Gayle, settled in Crossett, where he worked as a Supervisor for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation. Together, they raised their children and enjoyed their grandchildren in a home full of love. After he retired from the paper industry, he worked for the Ashley County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Strebeck was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, golf, and watching sports, especially the Razorbacks. All of these hobbies and passions he would pass down to his family. Mr. Strebeck adored his family and worked hard to create many traditions and lasting memories that his children, grandchildren, and great-grandsons will cherish forever. He had many friends and extended family that he loved spending time with, especially when he had a good story to tell.

He is preceded in death by his devoted wife, Gayle Humphrey Strebeck in 2019; his parents, Sam and Eunice Scarlett Strebeck; a brother, Dennis Strebeck; a brother-in-law, Darrel Humphrey; two sisters-in-law, Kay Gannon, and Margie Strebeck; his son-in-law, Jeff Hust; a great-nephew, Jett Harbinson Moffatt and his parents-in-law, Ernest Humphrey and Atha Lee Goleman Humphrey.

 He is survived by his son, Barry Strebeck and wife, Tiffany; his daughter, Shelbi Hust and her fiancé, Odie McFarland, all of Hamburg; two brothers, Charles Strebeck and wife, Marie, and Donnie Strebeck and wife, Joan, all of Crossett; a sister-in-law, Rita Humphrey Grider of Crossett; three grandchildren, Chelsea Strebeck Barner and husband, Logan, of Crossett,  Samantha Gayle Strebeck of Monticello and Scarlotte Hust Harrington, and husband, Grant, of Smackover; three great-grandchildren, Landon Tate Barner, Grayson Gregg, and Reed Harrington and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 22, 2023, at the First Church of God in Crossett with Bro. Scott Wheeler and Sidney Turner officiating. 

Visitation will be 1:15-2 p.m., Thursday at the church.
