Thomas J. Wells, Jr., 78, of Hamburg, died Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at his residence. Mr. Wells was born in Crossett, a resident of the Promise Land Community outside of Hamburg for most of his life and a 1964 graduate of Hamburg High School. Mr. Wells was a veteran of the United States Army, having honorably served his country during the Vietnam Era. He was a faithful member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Wells was known to be a hard worker and would do whatever it took to complete his job as an Equipment Operator in the Logging Industry or when he was baling hay. He was always involved in doing something, was a giver of his time, never met a stranger and was more than willing to help anyone in need. He was a wonderful story teller and enjoyed deer hunting, crappie fishing and most of all coon hunting. Mr. Wells loved his children, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and would support them in anything they were doing.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Nelda Hill Wells in 2017; his parents, James and Mae Kelley Wells and a sister, Patsy Wells Cecil.
He is survived by his son, Shane Wells and wife, Christie, of Hamburg; his daughter, Shelley Stewart and husband, Andy, of Collinston, Louisiana; two brothers, Charles "Bull" Wells and wife, Betty, of Hamburg and Lamar Wells and wife, Debbie, of Maumelle; five grandchildren, Kash Stewart and wife, Haley, Shaye Lingo and husband, Colby, Taylor Nelson and husband Rickey, Shanie Berry and husband, John Mark and Jalyn White; three great-grandchildren, Krew Stewart, Dutton Lingo and Paisley Nelson and two more expected in a few months; his very special friends and extended family, John Fernandez and Rafael Hernandez families and a host of nieces and nephews.
