Shane Elton Welch Obituary

Shane Elton Welch, 53, of Sterlington, Louisiana, died Wednesday, October 21, 2020, in Jackson, Mississippi.  Shane was a native of and raised in Hamburg, Arkansas. A 1985 graduate of Hamburg High School, he attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello and was a member of the Arkansas National Guard.  Shane worked for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation Plywood Mill for over 20 years, Bosie Cascade Plywood in Oakdale, Louisiana and Columbus, South Carolina, and for Winston Plywood in Louisville, Mississippi for the past two months.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hamburg.

He is preceded in death by his father, Gary Elton Welch in 2003; his grandparents, Elton and Lavern Wesson Welch and Robert and Doris Cox Riels.

He is survived by his wife, Dera Edwards Welch of Sterlington, Louisiana; a son, Cody Welch of Little Rock; a daughter, Rayne Welch of Hamburg; his mother, Gail Riels Welch of Hamburg and a step-son, Damieon Waller of Alexandria, Louisiana.

Graveside services are 2 p.m., Saturday, October 24, 2020, in the Eden Cemetery with Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 352. Hamburg, AR  71646. 

Visitation will be 1:45 – 2 p.m., Saturday at the cemetery.
