Sandra E. Carpenter

Sandra E. Carpenter, 72, of Hamburg, died Tuesday, January 23, 2018.  Mrs. Carpenter was a native of Champaign, Illinois and a resident of Hamburg for over 45 years.  She was a wonderful housewife and a top of the line mother who worshipped her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by an infant son, Brad Thomas Carpenter; her parents, Harris and Marjorie Trost Lange and two brothers, Harris Lange, Jr., and Gary Lange.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Tom B. Carpenter of Hamburg; two daughters, Michelle Gouner and husband, Warren, of Crossett and Melinda Gwin and husband, Mickey, of Hamburg; a son, Shawn Carpenter and wife, Shann, of Hamburg; four sisters, Karen Rice and husband, Andy, of Monticello, Illinois, Marcia Kaiser and husband, Don, of Champaign, Illinois, Mary Lange of Tolono, Illinois and Diane Stumborg and husband, Jerry, of Philo, Illinois; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held in the Flat Creek Cemetery with Bro. J. W. Dobbins officiating.  The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to the ICU Staff at the Ashley County Medical Center for their compassion and care.
