Sam Curran, 79, of Crossett, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at his home in North Crossett. Mr. Curran was a native of Wilmot and a resident of Crossett for the past 65 years. He worked in the food sales industry. Mr. Curran was a member of the Cloverdale Assembly of God Church, where he served as a Deacon and a member of the church board. He was an outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was the founder and President of the Curran Hunting Club. Mr. Curran loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was known by everyone as the “Chief Prankster.”
He is preceded in death by a son, Kevin Curran in 2011; his parents, Tom and Sallie Crouch Curran; four sisters, Hazel Curran Milligan, Louise Curran Bell, Belle Curran Allen, and Eva Faye Curran Turner and three brothers, Melvin Curran, Elvin Curran and John W. Curran.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patsy Sledge Curran of Crossett; a son, Keith Curran and wife, Rhonda, of Tampa, Florida; a daughter, Darlene Jackson and husband, Walter; a daughter-in-law, Belinda Greene Curran all of Crossett; a sister, Lois Curran of Lebanon, Missouri; five grandchildren, Josh Curran and wife, Laura, Cole Curran and wife, Megan, Cheyenne White, Dustin Curran and wife, Auna, and Slade Curran, four great-grandchildren, Jackson Curran, Tessa Curran, Aleigha Miller, and Rai`Lynn Curran and a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are 2 p.m., Sunday, June 28, 2020, in the Carlock Cemetery with Bro. David Williams and Bro. Carlton White officiating. Pallbearers are Josh Curran, Cole Curran, Dustin Curran, Slade Curran, D.J. Bussell and Ronnie McDonald. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Berryman, Kenneth Knight, Carlton Maxwell, Doug Piker and Bryan Bolin.
Visitation will be 1:45-2 p.m. Sunday at the Cemetery.
