Roy Edward Murphy, 73, of Hamburg, died Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. Mr. Murphy was born August 18, 1952 in Lake Village and was a resident of Hamburg for most of his life. He worked for Bemis Bag, now Hood Packaging, as a Machine Operator for over 30 years, having retired in 2017. Mr. Murphy enjoyed bass fishing, deer hunting and being outdoors or on the water but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Buford and Heana Maxine Royal Murphy.
He is survived by his son, Roy Murphy and his wife, Carol, of Hamburg; his daughter, Wendy Gates and her husband, Kelly, of Rusk, Texas; three brothers, Lamar Murphy and his wife, Stacey, Anthony Murphy and Charlie Murphy; five grandchildren, Dillion Jones, Holley Harrington and her husband, Austin, Cami Fleming and her husband, Kyle, Tiffani Gates and Alyssa Angell and her husband, Brent; five great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Kinzen, Korbyn, Tripp, River Kate, Ivy and Tate and a host of nieces and nephews.
Private burial was in the Daily Cemetery.
