Obituary

Ronald Gene Tippen, Sr., 77, of Hamburg, died Friday, September 15, 2023, at his home. Mr. Tippen was a native of Crossett, a resident of the Milo Community outside of Hamburg for over 25 years, and a former resident of Crossett for 52 years. He was recruited by West Monroe High School, where he excelled in Football and Track and Field events. After he graduated in 1965, he received a scholarship to attend the University of Louisiana at Monroe. In 1966, he proudly joined the United States Army and served during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Tippen worked as a Tissue Machine Tender for Georgia-Pacific Corporation Tissue Mill, having retired in 2015 after 49 1/2 years of dedicated service. He often shared his knowledge of the Tissue/Paper process and the types of machines used in the mill. Mr. Tippen was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He looked forward to deer hunting, and no deer was safe when he was in the woods. He enjoyed woodworking, reloading bullets, sighting in his guns, and taking hunting trips to Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Illinois, always seeking mule deer, elk, and white-tail deer. Mr. Tippen loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchild deeply. He never missed an opportunity to watch and support his family at any event they participated in. He was deeply loved by his family and all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leon Barney and Margaret Barrett Tippen, and an infant brother, Samuel Leon Tippen.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, the love of his life, LaJuana Gail Gross Tippen of Hamburg; three sons, Ronald Gene Tippen, Jr. and wife, Ashley, of Perryville, Justin Leon Evans Tippen and wife, Tanya, Jesse Lane Tippen and wife, Jessica, all of Hamburg; two daughters, Angela Christine Tippen Haynes and husband, Jimmy, of Hamburg and Belinda Lynn Reynolds and husband, David, of Lafayette, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Lakin Brianne Haynes Misenheimer and husband, Bo, James Dalton Haynes, Crete Jackson Tippen, Lainey Beth Tippen, Ainsley Jane Tippen, Jalie Evans Tippen, Trapper Lee Tippen, Tyler Samuel Tippen and Tessa Elizabeth Tippen; a great-grandson, Crew Barrett Misenheimer, numerous close cousins and friends.

Funeral services are 10 a.m., Thursday, September 21, 2023, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bodie Spicer officiating. Burial will be in the Egypt Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ronald Gene Tippen, Jr., Justin Leon Evans Tippen, Jesse Lane Tippen, James Dalton Haynes, Crete Jackson Tippen, Trapper Lee Tippen, Tyler Samuel Tippen, and Heath Cameron. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Vickers, Dennis Rickman, Don Paccio, Eugene Gifford, Bobby Murphy, Billy Mack Watt, Tony Craig, Stan Craig, and David Henderson.
