Robert “Sam” Leek, Jr., 85 of Florien, Louisiana, went to his heavenly home Saturday, April 9, 2022. Mr. Leek was a native of Pine Bluff and a resident of Florien, Louisiana for many years. He graduated from Magnolia High School in 1954 and from Baylor University in 1958. Mr. Leek fell in love with airplanes and flying, received his pilot’s license before he had his driver’s license and would fly himself back and forth from college. Mr. Leek had a very strong faith in the Lord, was of the Catholic faith, a mason, and a member of the El Dorado Lodge #13 F & AM. At age 72, he retired in 2008 after 50 years working as a Drilling Fluid Consultant in the Oil Field industry. Mr. Leek loved flying his plane, boating, water skiing and hunting.
He is preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Lauren Leek Males in 2008, and his parents, Robert Samuel Sr. and Eursla Evans Leek.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley LeBlanc Leek of Florien, Louisiana; four daughters, Lisa Bell and husband, Steve, of New London, Pamela Murray of The Woodlands, Texas, Lyndee Leek of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Laurie Sprayberry and husband Lennie, of Denton, Texas; a son, Hubert “Dale” Sharp and wife, Amy, of Dry Creek, Louisiana; his son-in-law, Bryan Males of Midland, Texas; seven grandchildren, Cody Bell and wife, Whitney, Jared Bell, Blake Sprayberry, Lindsey Sprayberry, Matt Sharp, Hunter Sharp and Frank Honea and a great-grandchild, Brooks Anthony.
Graveside services are 10 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2022, in the Eden Cemetery with Rev. Scotty Guillot officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
