Raymond Roberts, 76, of Hamburg, died Friday, September 20, 2024, at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. Mr. Roberts was a lifelong resident of Hamburg, a 1966 graduate of Hamburg High School and he attended the Arkansas A&M College, now the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hamburg. Mr. Roberts enjoyed his work as a consultant for power boilers so much, he started and operated his own Power and Recovery Operator Training Consultant business until he retired in 2022. His love and talent of woodworking and carving helped him add a special touch to the several houses he built. Mr. Roberts also enjoyed fishing, hunting, restoring his 1969 Bronco, tinkering with things, drinking coffee and visiting with friends and family.
He is preceded in death by a grandson, Kye Wells; his parents, Johnnie and Ruby Trantham Roberts; two sisters, Judy Ford and Pat Swan; two brothers, James Roberts, Sr. and Danny A. Roberts and a son-in-law, Lee Jackson.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Christine Cason Roberts of Hamburg; a daughter, Sandy Jackson of Benton; a brother, Jimmy Roberts and wife, Karon, of Hamburg; a sister, Lynda Davey all of Hamburg; three grandchildren, Clif Wells and wife, Mandy, Kate Weaver and husband, Torrey, and Russ McCone and two great-grandchildren, Lennox Wells and Brylee Weaver.
Funeral services are 3 p.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2024, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robin Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Promise Land Cemetery. He wanted his Huckle Bearers to be James Roberts, Jr., Scott Roberts, Eli Roberts, Garrett Roberts, Tim Swan and Thomas Swan. Honorary Huckle Bearers are Joe Roberts and Jared Williamson. Memorials may be made to your local church.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
