Ray Hennington, 64, of Lake Village, died Tuesday, February 25, 2020, in Lake Village. Mr. Hennington was a native of Portland and a resident of Lake Village for the past 37 years. He graduated in 1973 from Wilmot High School. Mr. Hennington worked at John Deere, in Lake Village and Portland, for over 38 years. After retiring from John Deere, he started his own trucking business that his sons still operate today. He was a member of the Portland Baptist Church and he attended the Jennie Baptist Church. Mr. Hennington attended the John 3:16 Ministries and was an avid believer in what they stood for and everything they accomplish. He volunteered many hours helping young men that struggle with addictions. In his spare time, he enjoyed raising cattle, riding horses and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his father, Clarence “C.H.” Hennington in 2018.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Dolores “Dee” Averett Hennington of Lake Village; two sons, Jock Hennington and wife, Leigha, of Portland and Brandon Hennington and wife, Aubrey, of Raymore, Missouri; a daughter, Whitney Williams and husband, Chris, of Lake Village; his mother, Frances Eddy Hennington of Portland; three brothers, Frank Henry Hennington and wife, Pat, of Gainesville, Georgia, Johnny Hennington and wife, Vikki, of Crossett, and Jessie Hennington and wife, Ashley, of Greenbrier; 11 grandchildren, Avery, Emma, Ariella, Livi Rae, Johanna, Andaline, Sadie, Wesley, Hunter, Easton and Dominic and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Friday, February 28, 2020, at the Portland Baptist Church with Bro Brian Wetzler and Bro. Bryan Tuggle officiating. Burial will be in the Jennie Cemetery. Pallbearers are John Britt, James Ashley, Allen Cole, Wesley Ramshur, Don Arensman and Ralph Jones. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Matthews and George Regalado. Memorials may be made to the John 3:16 Ministries, 75 Holmes Road, Charlotte, AR 72522.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the Portland Baptist Church.
