Patricia "Pat" Martin, 82, of Hamburg, died Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at her residence. Mrs. Martin was born June 18, 1942 in Cotton Valley, Louisiana and was a resident of the Martinville Community, outside of Hamburg, for the past 64 years. She worked at the Hamburg Shirt Factory, SEAMS and was a bookkeeper for J & P Construction Company but her most important job was being a devoted homemaker to her family. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, painting, drawing and crafting. She was very creative and would make costumes for church plays. She was an active member of the Martinville Baptist Church and loved cooking for her church family, spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandchild, Rowyn.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Thomas Richard "Joe" Martin in 2016; her parents, Clyde Edison and Mattie E. Wilkins Edwards; three brothers, Billy Ray Edwards, Sr., earlier this year, Ricky Edwards and Tibby Ray Edwards; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, James Haywood "Woodie" Martin and Dorothy Martin; five brothers-in-law, James "Sonny" Martin, Freddie Martin, Jimmy Martin, Gene Bates and Lyance "Bo" Savage and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Savage.
She is survived by two daughters, Bobbie Jo Martin Stevens and Donna Martin Knight and husband, Michael, all of Hamburg; two brothers, Clyde Edwards, Jr., and wife, Pam, of Minden, Louisiana and Johnny Dale Edwards and wife, Becky, of Dry Prong, Louisiana; a sister, Evelyn Savell and husband, Pete, of Minden, Louisiana; four sisters-in-law, Joy Martin, Judy Bates, Debbie Martin and Gladys Gulledge and her husband, Ed; two brothers-in-law, Randy Martin and Bobby Martin and his wife, Sylvia; three grandsons, Wade Knight and wife, Meagan, Kyle Knight (Daniel) and Jake Stevens; three great-grandchildren, Lauren, Brayden and Jett; one great-great-granddaughter, Rowyn and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the Martinville Baptist Church with Bro. Ryan McRae, Bro. Clayton Hales and Bro. Ed Gulledge officiating. Pallbearers are Jake Stevens, Brayden Knight, Billy Ray Edwards, Jr., Jarrett Myers, Lance McCarty and Grayson Harville. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Martin, Randy Martin, James Jay Martin. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at the church.
