Nancy Mattmiller Hennington, 84, of Hamburg, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Audrey's Special Home in Hamburg. Mrs. Hennington was born in Gillett, Arkansas on July 15, 1938, to Preston and Pauline Quandt Mattmiller. She was a resident of Hamburg for many years, a 1956 graduate of Hamburg High School, and after graduation, she attended Ayers Business School in Shreveport, Louisiana. Mrs. Hennington was a homemaker and a faithful member of the Hamburg First United Methodist Church, where she was a choir member, a Sunday School Teacher, a United Methodist Youth Counselor, and a member of the United Methodist Women.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Gordon E. Hennington, Jr., in 2016 and her parents.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Carter and husband, Glen Michael, of Hamburg; her son, Joseph Gordon Hennington of Fort Mill, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Carly Tyson and husband, Jon, Peyton Gwin, Dillon Deason and wife, Kate, all of Hamburg, Abigail Hennington of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Linsey Cessor and husband, Kevin, and Chase Carter and wife, Cassi, all of Hamburg and seven great-grandchildren, Rowan Tyson, Macyn Tyson, Camden Grace Cessor, Carter Cessor, Amberlyn Allen, Hanli Allen, and Ayden Carter.
The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Hospice Home Care for their kindness and compassion these last few years and to Michaila Irons and the staff of Audrey’s Special Home, Trisha, Brandy, Melissa, James, Jeanette, Ashley, Emily, and Arianna. The love and care they gave our mother was beyond anything we could have asked for during the last seven years.
Graveside services are 4 p.m., Thursday, July 13, 2023, in the Hamburg Cemetery with Bro. Josh Luellen officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Peyton Gwin, Dillon Deason, Jon Tyson, Keith Erwin, Reid Erwin, Don Davis, and Jimmy Mack Sullivan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Arkansas, 201 Markham Center Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205, or the Hamburg Cemetery Association, PO Box 15, Hamburg, AR 71646.
Visitation will be 3:30 – 4 p.m., Thursday, at the cemetery.
