Myrtle Lee Bussell Cochran Obituary

Myrtle Lee Bussell Cochran, 91, of Hamburg, passed from this life to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at her residence. Born in Vidalia, Louisiana, she moved to Hamburg at the age of eight. Mrs. Myrt was a 1953 graduate of Hamburg High School and later attended beauty school. She devoted 54 years to her career as a hairdresser, a profession she truly loved, along with the many clients who became like family to her. Mrs. Myrt was a member of First Baptist Church, where she had been active since childhood. She faithfully taught children’s Sunday School for many years, sharing her love for God with the next generation. Mrs. Myrt was a kind and loving woman who loved everyone—a truly gentle soul. She was a woman of strong faith who dearly loved her Lord and Savior. Her greatest joy in life was nurturing her family. She also enjoyed cooking for holidays, sewing, working word search puzzles, playing Bunco, shopping until she dropped, and appreciating God’s beauty—whether found in the clouds, flowers, autumn leaves, or waterfalls.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Dale Cochran; her parents, Ernest Bussell, Sr. and Margaret Tatum Bussell and two brothers, Ernest Bussell, Jr. and Clarence "Bubba" Bussell.

She is survived by her daughter, Derenda Stanley and her husband, Eddie, of Hamburg; a step-daughter, Mary Ann Capers and her husband, Willie, of Oak Grove, Louisiana; a niece, Dayla Bussell Gwin and her husband, Carl John; a nephew, Doug Bussell and his wife, Beverly, all of Crossett; four grandchildren, Lynn Martin and her husband, Ed, of Oak Grove, Louisiana, Chris Capers and his wife, Tina, of Bonnerdale, Zachary Capers and his wife, DeAnna, of Monroe, Louisiana and Megan Miller and her husband, John, of Oak Grove, Louisiana, a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, great-nieces, great-nephews and her current grand-pups, Mattie, Mollie and Max.

The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice Home Care, aids and nurses, especially Michelle Williams.
