Mickey Charles Pennington, 68, of Lake Village, died Sunday, August 27, 2023, at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. Mr. Pennington was a native of Big Spring, a resident of Lake Village for the past 16 years, and a former resident of Crossett and the Milo Community outside of Hamburg for many years. He graduated from Hamburg High School in 1973. Mr. Pennington worked for the Georgia-Pacific Paper Mill for 37 years. He was a devoted member of the Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church. His strong walk with his Lord and Savior led him to recently surrender to preach. While he was an avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed playing golf and family gatherings. Mr. Pennington loved his family and was a very devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents, M.C. and Joyce M. Bly Pennington, and a sister, Vickie Stafford.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Gail Simmons Pennington of Lake Village; a son, Wade Pennington and wife, Julie, of Hamburg; three daughters, Lynn Rice and husband, Denton, of Hamburg, Kellie Roberson of Warren and Kacy Gill of Hamburg; a brother, Rick Dale Pennington of Monroe, Louisiana; ten grandchildren, McKenzie Rice, Jaci Forrest, Drake Rice, Dalton Gill, Emilee Gill, J.D. Pennington, Paislee Rice, Owen Roberson, Olivia Roberson, and Jagger Pennington and one great-grandchild, Raiden Allen Bartlett.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Hutsell and Bro. Philip Payne officiating. Burial will be in the Cross Roads Cemetery in Warren. Pallbearers are Zach Jones, Jason Rauls, Jacob Rauls, Kevin Pennington, Derek Simmons, Gene Barnes, Ethan Rauls and Kenny Pennington. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Riles, Harvey Gilliam, Gary Matthews, the Men of Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church, his Golf Buddies, and the Hamburg High School Class of 1973. Visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
