Mary Lou Day, 89, of Sterlington, Louisiana, died Friday, January 30, 2026, at her residence. Mrs. Day was born September 2, 1936 in Winchester, was a resident of Sterlington, Louisiana for over 38 years and a former resident of Hamburg for many years. She was the owner and operator of the Catfish Inn for almost 25 years. Mrs. Day enjoyed working puzzles, watching game shows and sitcoms and cooking great meals. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Day; a son, Oliver "Bubba" Miles; a step-son, Terry Day; her parents, Hoyt and Willie Fleming Marshall; three infant sisters, Jane, Janis and Jenice Marshall and two brothers, Billy Wayne Marshall and Charles Marshall.
She is survived by a son, Johnny Miles and his wife, Becky, of Bastrop, Louisiana; three daughters, Debra Harris of Sterlington, Louisiana, Sheila Caudillo and her husband, Tito, of Bridge City, Texas and Risa Rivers and her husband, Brian, of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; two step-daughters, Tammy Day of Shreveport, Louisiana and Sandra Bowden of Fountain Hill; a sister, Carolyn Maxine Acrey of Dumas; 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2026, in the Scott Cemetery in Winchester, with Bro. Rick Thomas officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Jones, Rusty Harris, Tristin Graham, Jeremy Miles, Zander Cameron and Syler Huff.
Visitation will be 12 - 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
