Mary Ann Tumlison Gwin Mormon Obituary

Mary Ann Tumlison Gwin Mormon, 85, of Hamburg, died Wednesday, March 25, 2020.  Mrs. Mormon was raised in Snyder and moved to Hamburg in 1966.  She was a graduate of Portland High School.  Mrs. Mormon was the owner and operator of the Red Lantern, the operator of Past Time Restaurant and was the owner of Gwin & Son’s Logging for many years.  Mrs. Mormon was a member of the Hamburg Church of Christ. She was a hard-working woman and opened her home and heart to everyone. She had a passion for cooking and if you stopped by her home, you had to eat or her feelings were hurt.  She was a loving mother to all. Proverbs 31:10-31 describes her well.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, James C. “Jake” Gwin in 1984 and John J. Mormon in 2010; her parents, Noel H. & Mary Austin Tumlison; a step-son, John Whitten Mormon and a step-grandson, Eric Adams.

She is survived by five sons, James Gwin and wife, Sandra, of Montrose, Richard Gwin and wife, Sue, Bobby Joe Gwin and wife, Nancy, Don Gwin all of Hamburg and Carl John Gwin and wife, Dayla, of Crossett; two daughters, Pat Thompson and husband, Gene, of Lake Village and Paula Ladd and husband, Keith, of Hamburg; four brothers, Harry Joe Tumlison and wife, Bonnie, of Crossett, John William “Bill” Tumlison and wife, Ressie, of Kingwood, Texas, Jerry Tumlison and wife, Tammy, of Van Buren and Noel “Buck” Tumlison and wife, Kathy, of Flora, Mississippi; three sisters, Linda Gilliam and husband, Allen, of Portland, Nancy Cowan and husband, Lance, of Nashville, Tennessee and Pam Roberson and husband, Doyle, of Bastrop, Louisiana; a step-daughter, Marilynn Wood of Texas; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services are 11 a.m., Friday, March 27, 2020, in Pinewood Memorial Park with Bro. Robin Allen and Bro. Joe Sponaugle officiating.  Honorary pallbearers are her grandsons.  Memorials may be made to the Helping Hands Food Pantry, 816 Pine Ridge Drive, Hamburg, Arkansas 71646, or you can make a meal for someone or do a kind deed in her honor.
