Maedean Crawford Shivers, 84, of Crossett, died Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Nightingale at Crossett. Mrs. Shivers was a native of the Berlin Community outside of Hamburg, a resident of Crossett for most of her life and a 1957 graduate of Hamburg High School. She was a devoted homemaker to her family, worked in the cafeteria for the Crossett School District and was a Dental Assistant for Dr. Horton for many years. She was an active and faithful member of Pine Forest Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Shivers enjoyed fishing and camping at Lake Chicot, organizing her high school class reunions and attending family reunions.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Grady C. Shivers, Sr., in 2014; her parents, Elbert Oliver and Sue Jackson Crawford; three brothers, Robert Ira Crawford, Wilmar Lavoe Crawford and A.G. Crawford; five sisters, Essie Mae Burnett, Willie Mable McLeod, Mattie Ruth Sedberry, Mardelle Henley and Bertie Belle Harrod.
She is survived by two sons, Grady Colvin Shivers, Jr. and wife, Lea Ann, of Crossett and Don Shivers and wife, Susie, of Bastrop, Louisiana; two granddaughters, Whitney Gill and husband, Chris, of Crossett and Courtney Ferebee and husband, Parker, of Mayflower; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson on the way and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2024 at the Pine Forest Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Willie Thornhill and Bro. Roy Grantham officiating. Burial will be in Pinewood Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Anthony Adcock, Charlie Hicks, Bryce Moon, Roy Murphy, Britt Courson and Gary Nichols. Honorary pallbearers are Buster Slater, Bennie Swan, Tony Lee, Billy Wayne McLeod, Rex Brown, James Allen Ford, R.C. Thomas, Tommy Hunter, Danny Courson and the Men of Pine Forest Missionary Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the Pine Forest Missionary Baptist Church, 120 E. Church Street, Crossett, AR 71635.
Visitation will be 1:30 - 2 p.m., Sunday at the church.
