Larry E. Pelton, Sr. Obituary

Larry Eugene Pelton, Sr., 83, of Hamburg, was born in Raymond, Kansas on September 22, 1941, to Iva and Earl Pelton, and passed away on Sunday morning, September 7, 2025 in Crossett. Larry lived his early life in Kansas and after his mother and father divorced and each remarried, he moved to New Mexico to live with his father and stepmother, Helen Hall Pelton. He credits Helen with providing a loving home under which he thrived. He enjoyed the Southwest lifestyle and wide-open spaces.

After high school, Larry attended college for a year and majored in Electrical Engineering. In 1961, at twenty years old, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for four years. During that time, he met and married his first wife and they had a son, Larry Pelton, Jr. After leaving the service, they had a daughter, Lauri Pelton. The couple divorced after 12 years.

Larry met Louise Higginbotham in 1974 and they were married on May 9, 1976, Louise’s daughter, Kimberly Peebles, completed the new family. Larry and Louise owned and ran a successful business, traveled extensively and had a happy life together for 44 years before Louise passed away in 2020. Larry chose to live out the remainder of his life surrounded by the loving family of his dear wife and cherished the time he spent with them.

In addition to his beloved wife, Louise, he is preceded in death by his father, Earl Pelton, his mother, Iva, and his step-mother, Helen Hall Pelton.

Larry is survived by his stepdaughter, Kim Wilkerson and her husband, John; his son, Larry Pelton, Jr., and his daughter, Lauri Phillips and her husband, Brad; his three granddaughters, Rachel Billingsley, Brittany Phillips, and Bonnie Phillips and his three great-grandchildren, Kilee, Stevie, and Booker.

Funeral services were 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at the Promise Land Cemetery Pavilion with Bro. Josh Luellen officiating. Burial will be in the Promise Land Cemetery.
