Kirby Slaughter, 87, of Hamburg, died Thursday, July 7, 2022, at his residence. Mr. Slaughter was a native and lifelong resident of Hamburg, attended Fountain Hill High School, and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Slaughter worked as a logger for over 40 years, and he loved to hunt and fish in his spare time.
He is preceded in death by a son, Greg Stahley; his parents, Andrew and Callie Burch Slaughter; two sisters, Frances Deora Collier and Malvie Carruth; five brothers, Marshall Godwin, Lester “Dove” Slaughter, Leron Slaughter, Clinton “Son” Slaughter, and Johnny Slaughter.
He is survived by a daughter, Melanie Slaughter Savage and husband, Lyance Jr., of Hamburg; a son, Bill Stahley and wife, Jessica; the mother of his children, Sherry Stahley, all of Crossett; a sister, Ouida Sawyer of Hamburg; two grandchildren, Tiffany LeeAnn Savage of Arizona and Jarrod Stahley of Crossett and a great-grandson, Devin Stahley.
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Saturday, July 9, 2022, in the Chapel of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home with Bro. Ricky Pack officiating. A private burial will be in the Flat Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers are Hardy Sawyer, Paul Sawyer, Bill Collier, Dewayne Collier, Bobby Livingston, Jr., and Eddie Dean Savage. Honorary pallbearer is Mike Slaughter.
Visitation will be 9:30–10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel.
