Kenneth L. Burchfield Obituary

Kenneth Lee Burchfield, 62, of Hamburg, died Monday, June 28, 2021, at his residence.  Mr. Burchfield was a native of Crossett and resident of Hamburg for several years. He graduated in 1977 from Crossett High School, where he was an accomplished athlete as a quarterback of the football team and in Pole Vaulting.  He also graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello, College of Technology in 1978.  He worked for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation in the Maintenance Department.  Mr. Burchfield enjoyed fellowshipping and witnessing to people and singing with Sadie Grace, Lily, and in the choir.  He was a member of South Main Baptist Church and, at times, would visit Freedom Ministries with his wife.  As an avid outdoorsman, he loved being in the mountains and canoeing with his wife.  He enjoyed hunting, especially deer hunting, fishing, kayaking at the river and taking rides in “Old Red.”  He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Ophelia “Opie” Lynn Baker in 2012; his parents, Ecil & Sadie Gibbs Burchfield and his grandparents, Lonnie and Dora Lee Gibbs and Leroy and Ophelia Burchfield.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Monica Burchfield of Hamburg; his children, Lily Burchfield Payne and husband, Drew, of Little Rock, Courtney Peterson, Mitchell Sellers and Paul Sellers (Whittney) all of Hamburg and Teri Taylor Freeman and husband, Scott, of Crossett; two sisters, Sarah Beth Maxwell and husband, Tommy, of Monticello and Melonie Fineout and husband, Tommy, of Sulphur Springs, Texas; 13 grandchildren, Halle Martin, Breckyn Peterson, Slade Barnett, Sadie Burchfield, Christian Baker, Gabriella Sellers, Peyton Sellers, Brooklyn Sellers, Hadleigh Sellers, McKenna Sellers, Silas Sellers, Thrasten Sellers and Zaylei Wilcox and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 2 p.m., Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Freedom Ministries with Bro. Lyle Hearn and Apostle Angie Hogan officiating.  Burial will be in Crossroads Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Kent Kilcrease, Galen Jerry, Dusty Johnson, John Thomas Fineout, Wil Maxwell, Cody Jack Henry and Ronnie McDonald.  Honorary pallbearers are Mitchell Sellers, Paul Sellers, Drew Payne, Charles Peterson, Chuck Peterson, Jesse Lemons, Jack Allen, Bill Pierce, Peyton Sellers, Silas Sellers, Crossett High School Class of 1977 and his Crossett High School Sports Teammates. Memorials may be made to Hope at Home, PO Box 1001, Crossett, AR 71635.  

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
