Kathleen Lorraine Purtle Ashcraft, 77, of Hamburg, died Friday, July 9, 2021, in Springfield, Missouri. Mrs. Ashcraft was a native of Prescott and a resident of Hamburg for over 45 years. On the day she graduated from Prescott High School in 1962, she married the love of her life, Wendell. She enjoyed baking and worked as the JADE Grocery Store Bakery Manager, in Hamburg, for over 35 years. Mrs. Ashcraft was a member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church, where she was active with the Lois Circle. She loved flowers and gardening, was a very talented artist and enjoyed painting and writing poetry. But, above all, what she loved the most was being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Wendell E. Ashcraft in 2017 and her parents, Wallace Charles and Myrtle Lee Yarberry Purtle.
She is survived by a son, Mike Ashcraft and wife, Susan, of Crossett; a daughter, Cheryl Jones and husband, David, of Malvern; a sister, Nancy Purtle Lamar Brandt of Norman, Oklahoma; three brothers, William T. Clay and wife, Shelley, of Libertyville, Illinois, George Clay and wife, Mona of Benton and Tracy Johnson of New Mexico; four grandchildren, Micheal Jones and wife, Sarah, Ian Ashcraft, Caitlyn Jones and Lauren Courson; two great-grandchildren, Aiden Jones and Braxton Sharp and her special friends, Georgia Hodge and husband, John, (Kathy and Georgia called each other sister), and Billy Jones.
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Josh Luellen officiating. Burial will be in the Crossroads Cemetery. Pallbearers are Adam Hernandez, Michael Adams, Ramiro Hernandez, Steven Lamar, Garrett Ogletree, Hunter Adams, Steven Hodge and Jim Pollock. Honorary pallbearers are Micheal Jones, Sammy Denton, John Hodge and Billy Jones. Memorials may be made to the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church, 765 Ashley Road 70, Hamburg, AR 71646.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
