Karen McCain Abraugh, 59, of Wilmot, died Monday, July 31, 2023, at the Willis-Knighton Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. Karen was a lifelong resident of Wilmot, a 1982 graduate of the Montrose Academy and she owned and operated Shear Style Salon and Gifts in Portland for over 20 years. Karen loved her clients, and by the time their appointment was finished, they were well on their way to being close friends. She was always the “life of the party,” and through her sassy personality and warm smile you knew that she was a genuinely happy person. Karen enjoyed working in her flowers and cooking and was known for her delicious dishes. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and spent as much time as possible with them.
She is preceded in death by her son, Randy Abraugh in 2019; her mother, Ruby Nell Crain McCain in 2022 and a nephew, Tyler Jones in 2005.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Troy Abraugh of Wilmot; two daughters, Hannah Abraugh of Hamburg and Hillary Montgomery and husband, Byron, of Monticello; her father, J.L. McCain of Hamburg; a brother, Jackie McCain of Wilmot; two sisters, Deborah McCain Jones of Monroe, Louisiana and Vickie McCain Alberson and husband, James, of Hamburg; six grandchildren, Aiden, Madi, Amelia, Asher, Nash and Owen and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 3 p.m., Wednesday, August 2, 2023, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Toby Austin officiating. Burial will be in the Wilmot Cemetery. Pallbearers are Knick Kelley, George Rutledge, Aaron Rutledge, Vinnie Rutledge, Mike Brooks, and Max Hill. Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Hammond, Colvin Stock, and Jeremy Hamm. Visitation will be 2-3 p.m., Wednesday, in the funeral home chapel.
