June McCollum Wood, 91, of Hamburg, died Friday, October 22, 2021 in Monticello. Mrs. Wood was a native of Greenbrier, a resident of Hamburg since 1989 and a former resident of Cabot, Waldron, Whelen Springs and Jones, Oklahoma, where her husband served as a Southern Baptist Minister. Mrs. Wood loved the Lord, fellowshipping with others and playing the piano. A beautifully accomplished pianist, she started playing the piano for churches at age 14 and has published around 150 gospel songs for ten different companies.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Rev. Robert Wood in 2014; her parents, William Elbert & Iva Thornton Martin McCollum; two half-sisters, Mary Mills and Ida Emmerson and a special friend, Robert Schee.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Bill Wood and wife, Glenda, of Hamburg; her special friends, David Nelms of Snyder, Nikki Schee of Whelen Springs and Eugene Gifford of Fountain Hill.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Sunday, October 24, 2021 in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Chain and Bro. Terry Greenwood officiating. Burial will be in the Eden Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
