Judy Ann Burgess Carpenter, 76, of Hamburg, died Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at her daughter's residence. Mrs. Carpenter was born December 4, 1948 in Jennie and had been a resident of Hamburg since 1979. She worked as a Certified Nurses Aid for the Ashley County Health Unit for over 25 years, and was also a private caregiver before she retired in 2014. She was a Donald Trump supporter, enjoyed gardening in her flower beds, music, wood working, crocheting, reading, quilting, visiting on her back porch, listening to the wind chimes and watching the hummingbirds.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Ruth Yearian Burgess; a sister, Louise Porter; four brothers, Charles Otto Burgess, John Clifford "Jack" Burgess, Pelham Burgess and Scott Burgess.
She is survived by her three devoted daughters, Teresa Ethridge and husband, Johnny, of Snyder, Angela Ross and Ralph Ware of Hamburg and Beth Naff and husband, Thomas, of Crossett; three brothers, Steve Burgess, Earl Burgess and wife, Deborah, and Frank Burgess and wife, Ann; eight grandchildren, Chris Hammons and wife, Amanda, Michael Hammons, Danielle Ross, Jacob Ross, Tonya Reap and husband, Daniel, Kayla Lowery and husband, Jason, Jon Ethridge and wife Rebecca and Gavin Watt; 14 great-grandchildren, Maddie, John Michael, Grace, Kohl, Kambree, Sophie, Paris, London, Kali, Aiden, River, Braden, Stella and Emery and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
