Judy Ann Smith Pennington, 69, of Hamburg, died Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at her residence. Mrs. Pennington was a native and lifelong resident of Hamburg and a 1973 graduate of Hamburg High School. She loved serving the Lord and was a devoted member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Pennington was a bank teller for many years having worked at Farmer's Bank in Hamburg and First National Bank of Crossett, before becoming a Bookkeeper for the Byrd Law Firm until 2007. Mrs. Pennington enjoyed shopping and organizing but most of all she loved everything about her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Jewel Page Smith; two brothers, Calvin Smith and Jimmy Smith, who died 3 days ago.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jimmy Pennington of Hamburg; two sons, Tim Pennington and wife, Emily, of Hoover, Alabama and Kevin Pennington and wife, Andee, of Hamburg; two nephews, Scott Smith and wife, Tina, of Pine Bluff and Andrew Smith and wife, Nikki, of Virginia; a niece, Suzanne Toney and husband, Edward, of Hamburg and seven grandchildren, Percy Pennington, Payton Pennington, Michael Pennington, Sadie Pennington, M.J. Pennington, Preslee Pennington and Parker Pennington.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Josh Luellen and Bro. Randy Rutledge officiating. Burial will be in the Crossroads Cemetery. Pallbearers are Scott Smith, Andrew Smith, Denton Rice, Griffin Courson, Gage Price, Neil Woods, Stephen "Peck" Smith, Charlie Ware, Nathan Crouch and Cliff Ladd. Memorials may be made to the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, 765 Ashley Road 70, Hamburg, AR 71646 or to Hope at Home, PO Box 1001, Crossett, AR 71635.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
