Juanita Kay Cole Kirsten, 75, of Crossett, died June 25, 2022, at the Stonegate Villa Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Kirsten was a native of Oakdale, Louisiana and a former resident of Houston, Texas for many years, having moved to Crossett in 2007. She was a star basketball player at Elizabeth High School, where she graduated in 1965, and in 1969 Mrs. Kirsten graduated from the Houston Police Academy. She proudly served as a Police Officer for the Houston Police Department, the Galveston Police Department, and the San Jacinto Junior College Police Department, having retired after over 35 years of service. She enjoyed riding horses, and she loved her puppies.
She is preceded in death by her son, Martin “Trey” Kirsten, Jr. in 2000, and her parents, Arthur and Evelyn Naron Cole.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Martin Kirsten; a brother, Robert “Buster” Cole and wife, Martha, all of Crossett; two sisters, Margaret Hazlewood of Crossett and Elizabeth Atkinson of New Caney, Texas and one grandchild, Riley Dawn Kirsten.
