Joyce Gladden Ethridge, 84, of Lake Village, died Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the House of Three in Little Rock. Mrs. Ethridge was a native of Montrose, a resident of Little Rock for the past two years, and a former resident of Lake Village for over 60 years. She was a member of the Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Ethridge worked as a seamstress at the Wells Lamont Glove Factory in Dermott, having retired after 30 years, and she was the caretaker for her mother for over ten years. She lived a wonderful and full life regardless of the effects of having aphasia for 30 years. Mrs. Ethridge enjoyed shopping for clothes and shoes and loved spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Billy Mack Ethridge in 2021; three infant sons; her parents, Clyde and Louise Swayze Gladden; two sisters, Mary Catherine Stanley and Jimmy Nell Burns and two brothers, Clarence “Buddy” Gladden and Bob Gladden.
She is survived by a grand-son, William Mondragon; a very special niece and her loving caretaker, Dlorah DeVore of Little Rock; a sister, Annie Laura Gladden Hensley and husband, Barney, of Dardanelle and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Graveside services are 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2023, in the Dermott Cemetery with Bro. Phillip Payne officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Visitation will be 9:45 – 10 a.m., Wednesday at the cemetery.
