Joyce McElroy

Joyce McElroy, 81, of Crossett, died Tuesday, October 6, 2020.  Mrs. McElroy was a native and lifelong resident of Crossett and a 1957 graduate of Crossett High School.  She was a Registered Nurse, having worked at the Ashley County Medical Center for 20 years and Morehouse General Hospital for 10 years.  Mrs. McElroy was a member of the Magnolia Baptist Church.  She enjoyed playing the piano and gardening.  Family was very important to her, and she loved to spend time with her grandkids.

She is preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Dale McElroy in 1965 and Alan McElroy in 1998; her parents, Dewey Benton & Lonia Mae Burchell Murphy and a brother, Bobby Glen Murphy.

She is survived by two daughters, Janet Ricks and husband, David, of Hamburg and Kathy Harcrow of Crossett; a son, Robin McElroy and wife, Mandy, of Crossett; 15 grandchildren, Jennifer, Gerry, Michael, Matthew, Michelle, Dale, Stacie, Catlin, Bryan, Christy, Allison, Luke, Ethan, Eli and Emorie; 21great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are 10 a.m., Friday, October 9, 2020, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Griffith officiating. A private burial will be in the Carlock Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Dale Barnett, Bryan Huskey, Matthew McElroy, Ethan McElroy, Luke Ricks, Alan Burney, Eli McElroy and Bronx Huskey.

Visitation will be 9:45 – 10 a.m., Friday in the funeral home chapel.
