Johnie C. Guthrie, 87, of Hamburg, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2021. Mr. Guthrie was a native of Bradford and a resident of Little Rock for several years before moving to the Milo Community, outside of Hamburg, in 1970. Mr. Guthrie was a veteran of the United States Army and he worked for the Georgia Pacific Corporation for 28 years, having retired in 1998. He was a longtime and active member of the Zion United Methodist Church. Mr. Guthrie was a grower of many things, whether it was cattle, timber, hay, tomatoes, or friendships. He enjoyed immensely the time spent with family and friends at Buck Branch Hunting Club. Mr. Guthrie was an avid Razorback fan and in his later years in life, he enjoyed sitting on his back porch drinking coffee and reading the newspaper. His three grandsons brought him tremendous joy, and he enjoyed hearing about their hunting adventures and sporting events.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Shirley Lowry Guthrie, his parents, Lewis A. and Allie Alexander Guthrie and many brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his son, Clay Guthrie and wife, Becky; three grandsons, Caleb Guthrie, Charlie Guthrie, and Cason Guthrie, all of Centerton, and a sister, Nell Spencer of St. Louis, Missouri.
Graveside services are 10 a.m., Saturday, March 27, 2021 in the Zion Cemetery with Rev. Toby Austin officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Lance Price, Ken Kendall, Keith Wacaser, Caleb Guthrie, Charlie Guthrie, Cason Guthrie, Don Hartley, Kenneth Hartley and Thomas Shurgar. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Zion Cemetery Association, c/o Mrs. Rita Pogue, 211 Ashley Road 467, Hamburg, AR 71646.
