Joe Fred Yates, 59, of Hamburg, passed away due to complications of diabetes on Friday, May 3, 2024, at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. Mr. Yates was a native of Monticello and a resident of Fountain Hill and Hamburg for many years. He attended school at Fountain Hill and sometimes his attendance was hiding under a school bus, but he was there. Mr. Yates was a mechanic and business owner in Hamburg and a Christian of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed being out and about visiting with others and loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Florence Hobbs Yates; two brothers, Billy Joe Yates and Ricky Eastwood and two sisters, Nancy Wilcox and JoAnn Quarles.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Cindy Martin Yates of Hamburg; a daughter, Jennifer Yates of Monroe, Louisiana; two sons, Clayton McGilton and C.J. McGilton and wife, Destiny, all of Hamburg; two brothers, Butch Yates of Hamburg and James Yates of Little Rock; three sisters, Glennis Holland and husband, Davis, of Hamburg, Bonnie Tumlison and husband, Harry Joe, of Crossett and Joyce Smith and husband, Jerry, of Monticello; two sisters-in-law, Loretta Yates of Fountain Hill and Dolores Eastwood of Crossett; seven grandchildren, Dillin Rainwater, Anna Rainwater, Blaine Culp, Randen McGilton, Rowdy McGilton, Katie McGilton and Mason McGilton and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m., Monday, May 6, 2024, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Boyd Savage officiating. Burial will be in the Crossroads Cemetery. Pallbearers are Clayton McGilton, C.J. McGilton, Ryan Carpenter, Brandon Carpenter, Dakota Martin, Justin Martin, Jerry Lee Savage and Jason Powers. Honorary pallbearers are Levi Gray, Tony Adcock, Rocky Savage, Oscar Clark, Chaz Hattaway and James Lewis.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
