Joe Frank Murphy, 91, of Crossett, died Saturday, February 22, 2020, in El Dorado. Mr. Murphy was a native and lifelong resident of Crossett and a veteran of the United States Army. He owned and operated Murphy’s Auto Body, which he established in 1961. Mr. Murphy was a charter member of the Klassy Kruzers Car Club and he enjoyed cooking, hunting, and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Melba Jean Courson Murphy in 2015; a son, Ricky Joe Murphy in 2008; his parents, Walter A. & Nettie Smith Murphy; a brother, Richard Boyd Murphy and two sisters, Reatha Murphy Robinson and Annalene Murphy Bays.
He is survived by a son, Greg Murphy and wife, Angela, of Crossett; a brother, Ben Paul Murphy of Mobile, Alabama; five grandchildren, Jonothan Murphy, Ben Murphy and wife. Lynsie, Brad Murphy and wife, Alicia, Dylan Murphy and wife, Melissa, and Allison Murphy; seven great-grandchildren, Bentley, Aiden, Hailey, Spencer, Camryn, Greyson and Addison and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2020, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jamie Staley officiating. Burial will be in the Crossroads Cemetery. Pallbearers are Leon Gifford, Daniel Rice, Danny Courson, Jeff Murphy, John Welch, Jr., and J.W. Floyd. Honorary pallbearers are the Employees of Murphy Auto Body. Memorials may be made to John R. Williamson Hospice House, 2301 Champagnolle Road, El Dorado, AR 71730.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
