JoAnn G. Sullivan, 90, of Hamburg, died Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Stonegate Villa Health and Rehabilitation in Crossett. Mrs. Sullivan was a native and lifelong resident of Hamburg, a 1949 graduate of Hamburg High School, and a graduate of Arkansas A&M, now the University of Arkansas at Monticello. She retired from teaching in 1993, having had taught for five years in Portland and 34 years in Hamburg. Mrs. Sullivan was a member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Church Librarian, and past President of the Ladies Lois Circle. She was the past Secretary and Treasurer of the Promise Land Cemetery Association for over 20 years, a member of the Promise Land Rural Community Improvement (R.C.I), and was on the Board of Directors of the Ashley County Conservation District.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Joe Mack Sullivan in 2007; her parents, Alfred H. and Jessie Machen Gulledge; a sister, Elizabeth Gulledge Hawthorne; two brothers, James Alfred Gulledge and Noble F. Gulledge and her in-laws, Barney and Velma Sullivan.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Mack Sullivan and wife, Johnette; her granddaughter, Wendy Sullivan Hale and husband, Cody; two great-grandsons, that she thought could do no wrong, Gatlin Hale and Jace Hale; her special friend, Faye Wallace, all of Hamburg; three nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Saturday, February 5, 2022, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Josh Luellen and Bro. Trey Emory officiating. Memorials may be made to the Promise Land Cemetery Association, c/o Lindsey Brooks, 427 Ashley Road 70, Hamburg, AR 71646.
A private burial will be in the Promise Land Cemetery.
