Jim Rush, 83, of Hamburg, died Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the Nightingale at Stonegate Health and Rehabilitation Center in Crossett. Mr. Rush was born May 10, 1941 in DeWitt, Arkansas and was a resident of Hamburg for the past 77 years. He graduated from Hamburg High School in 1959, and continued his education at Arkansas Tech University, receiving his Bachelors of Science in Education (BSE) in 1964. He taught and coached in Hot Springs for a few years before moving to California and teaching for Shafter High School for five years. Mr. Rush received his Masters of Science in Education degree in 1969 while in California. He then returned to Arkansas and worked in several areas before returning to Hamburg. Mr. Rush proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was a member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, O.C. "Dude" and Sissie Currie Rush; two sisters, Susan Lady Rush and Patsy K. Watson and his brother-in-law, Bill Watson.
He is survived by his son, Chris. C. Rush of Northern Virginia; a brother, Bob Rush and his wife, Charlotte, of Crossett and two grandchildren, Madeline Ward Rush and Andrew Creed Rush.
A graveside memorial service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, April 26, 2025, in Pinewood Memorial Park with Bro. Josh Luellen officiating. Memorials may be made to the charity or organization of the donor's choice.
