Jean Barnard, 80, of Hamburg, died Friday, January 3, 2020, in Crossett. Mrs. Barnard was a native and lifelong resident of Hamburg. She worked at the Hamburg Shirt Factory for many years and she was a member of the Southside Baptist Church. Mrs. Barnard enjoyed working outside in her yard and in her flowers.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Gene Barnard in 1993; a grandson, Matthew Barnard; her parents, Walter and Carrie Pollock McCauly; two sisters, Helen Honeycutt and Wanda Sue McCauly and her son-in-law, Johnny Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Sylvia “Sam” Smith of Hamburg; a son, Dewey Barnard and wife, Brenda, of Mayflower; a sister, Ann Hill of Hamburg; two grandchildren, Karli Barnard and husband, Mark, and Amy Wilson and husband, Chris; three great-grandchildren, Emma, Izabella and Matti Grace and a host of extended family.
Memorial services are 2 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2020, at the Southside Baptist Church with Rev. David Newberry officiating. Memorials may be made to Ashley County Cares, PO Box 366, Hamburg, AR 71646.
