Janie Kilcrease, 82, of Hamburg, died Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Chapel Woods Health and Rehabilitation Center in Warren. Mrs. Kilcrease was born March 13, 1942 in Monticello, was a resident of Hamburg for the past 67 years and a former resident of Monticello for several years. She was a 1960 graduate of Hamburg High School and a member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Kilcrease worked in several different areas of the Ashley County Courthouse, having retired in 1990. She enjoyed cooking, painting and preparing anything and everything for her family during all holidays. Mrs. Kilcrease loved to take care of everyone but her greatest love of all was her children and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Henry & Martha Sharp Lair.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Johnny Kilcrease of Hamburg; two sons, David Kilcrease of Monticello and Steven Kilcrease of Crossett; her sister, Wanda Morphis and husband, James, of Star City; four grandchildren, Michael, Channing, Kailyn and Karson and five great-grandchildren, Axle, Ryder, Rori Jo, Ryann and Sadler.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Sunday, March 9, 2025 at the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Phillip Brown and Bro. Josh Luellen officiating. Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery. Pallbearers are Andy Evans, Bob Rush, Ernie Hennington, Jared Brooks, William Foote, and Kevin Morphis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, 765 Ashley Road 70, Hamburg, AR 71646 or to St. Jude, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
