James Kenneth Barrett Obituary

James Kenneth Barrett, 74, of Hamburg, died Saturday, March 4, 2023, at his home. Mr. Barrett was a native and former resident of Wilmot until he moved to Hamburg over 35 years ago. He graduated from Wilmot High School in 1966 and attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello for four years. Mr. Barrett worked in the Georgia-Pacific Corporation Maintenance Department for 39 years, having retired in 2011. He was a member of the Hamburg First United Methodist Church. Mr. Barrett enjoyed hunting, was an avid outdoorsman, and took great pride in working in his yard, keeping it clean, and would “fight” with the leaves every year to keep it that way. He loved doing things with his family, watching his granddaughter dance, and was always “along for the ride.” He was a cherished and loved husband, father, and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Orum and Fernande Vicknair Barrett; a brother, Robert Orum Barrett, Jr. and two sisters, Mary Louise Harp and Eve Elizabeth Torian.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sue Hall Barrett of Hamburg; a daughter, Brandi Barrett Garrison and husband, Kyle, of Jonesboro; two brothers, Errol Barrett of Portland and Johnny Barrett and wife, Linda, of Hot Springs; three sisters, Lela Mae Pickett of Texarkana, Texas, Laura Pasqua of Gonzales, Louisiana and Gloria Roebuck and husband, Buddy, of Ruston, Louisiana; his beloved granddaughter, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Barrett Garrison and a host of nieces and nephews.
