James Oliver

James Oliver, 76, of Hamburg, died, Friday, April 17, 2020.  Mr. Oliver was a native of Fountain Hill and a resident of Hamburg for most of his life.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.  Mr. Oliver was a truck driver for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation for over 30 years, having retired in 1999.  He was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.  Mr. Oliver enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Margaret Ann Shaver Oliver in 2006; twin grandchildren, Ava Virginia and James Maddox; his parents, Ervin & Edith Sivils Oliver and three brothers, Billy Oliver, Ricky Ross and Jeff Ross.

He is survived by two sons, Jimmy Oliver and wife, Debbie, and Brian Oliver and wife, Tammy, all of Mabelvale; two daughters, Cindy Smith and husband, Jeff, of Livingston, Texas and Priscy Farmer and husband, Mike, of Clarksville, Tennessee; a sister, Linda Hall and husband, Harold, of Maumelle; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 20, 2020, in the Flat Creek Cemetery with Bro. Bill Elton officiating.  Honorary pallbearers are his Grandsons and Ravi Wadhawni.  Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Heart Hospital Foundation, 1701 S. Shackleford Road, Little Rock, AR 72211.  

Due to the recent health concerns of Covid-19 and recommendations from the Center for Disease Control, it has become necessary to limit funeral services to immediate family only. We ask that you please refrain from handshakes, and hugs.  Our top priority is the safety of the families we serve, as well as our staff and others in our community.
