Irvin Lizandro Hernandez Barajas Obituary

Irvin Lizandro Hernandez Barajas, 13, of Columbia, Louisiana, died Thursday, October 9, 2025 as the result of an automobile accident.  Irvin was born June 25, 2012 in Tijuana, Mexico, was a resident of Columbia, Louisiana for the past four months and a former resident of Hamburg.  He was an 8th grade student and of the Catholic faith.  Irvin enjoyed playing football and video games, riding four wheelers, fishing and hunting, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Jose Candelario Hernandez and two maternal uncles, Mario Barajas and Jose Leure Torres Barajas.

He is survived by his parents, Hector Hernandez Gonzales and Yahaira Barajas Mondragon; a sister, Gretel Hernandez, all of Columbia, Louisiana; his maternal grandparents, Mireya Mondragon Sanchez and Gerardo Barajas; his paternal grandmother, Maria Elena Gonzalez all of Mexico; two maternal aunts, Arely Barajas and her husband, Rafael Corcolis of Mexico and Maritza Barajas and her husband, Valentin Huante of Grady.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 5 p.m., in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rosary at 6 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Hamburg with Father Joe Friend as Celebrant. Burial will be in the Pascual Cemetery, in Erendia Michoacan, Mexico. Pallbearers are Emiliano Guitron, Junior Dominguez, Max Torres, Edwin Chavez and Finn Owens. Honorary pallbearers are Samuel Amezcua and Javi Garcia.

Irvin Lizandro Hernández Barajas, de 13 años, de Columbia, Luisiana, falleció el jueves 9 de octubre de 2025 como resultado de un accidente automovilístico. Irvin nació el 25 de junio de 2012 en Tijuana, México, residió en Columbia, Luisiana durante los últimos cuatro meses y anteriormente residió en Hamburg. Era estudiante de octavo grado y de fe católica. Irvin disfrutaba jugando fútbol americano y videojuegos, montando cuatrimotos, pescando y cazando, pero sobre todo amaba pasar tiempo con su familia y amigos.

Le precedieron en la muerte su abuelo paterno, José Candelario Hernández, y dos tíos maternos, Mario Barajas y José Leure Torres Barajas.

Le sobreviven sus padres, Héctor Hernández Gonzales y Yahaira Barajas Mondragón; una hermana, Gretel Hernández, todos de Columbia, Luisiana; sus abuelos maternos, Mireya Mondragón Sánchez y Gerardo Barajas; su abuela paterna, María Elena González, todos de México; dos tías maternas, Arely Barajas y su esposo, Rafael Corcolis de México y Maritza Barajas y su esposo, Valentín Huante de Grady.

El velatorio se llevará a cabo el jueves 16 de octubre de 2025 a las 5 p.m. en la capilla de la Funeraria Jones-Hartshorn, y el rosario a las 6 p.m.. La misa de entierro cristiano se celebrará a las 10 a.m. del viernes 17 de octubre de 2025 en la Iglesia Católica del Espíritu Santo en Hamburg, con el Padre Joe Friend como celebrante. El entierro se realizará en el Cementerio Pascual, en Erendia, Michoacán, México. Los portadores del féretro son Emiliano Guitrón, Junior Domínguez, Max Torres, Edwin Chávez y Finn Owens. Los portadores de honor del féretro son Samuel Amezcua y Javi García.
