Hoyle Wood

Hoyle Wood, 71, of Mayflower, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 15, 2018.  Hoyle was born July 4, 1947 in Monticello and was a former resident of Fountain Hill and Hamburg for many years.  He was a 1965 graduate of Fountain Hill High School, where he was Co-Captain of the Wildcats Basketball team, and he was a veteran of the United States Army.  Hoyle worked as a Fleet Manager for Larco, Inc. in Little Rock.  He was devoted to Larco for many years and enjoyed building the Little Rock division from the ground up.  Over the course of his life, he owned and operated many businesses in Hamburg including Jiffy-Lube, Tastee-Freeze, Texaco and Exxon Service Stations.  Hoyle enjoyed horseback riding, water skiing and loved watching the PBR.  Most importantly, he loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Starling Pierce, and his father, Durelle Wood.

He is survived by his children, Shelly Savage and husband, Carlton, of Mayflower and Steven Wood and wife, Jayme, of Vilonia; his sisters, Kay Etue and husband, Keith, of Star City and Charlotte Tadlock of Boise, Idaho; his grandchildren, Ashley Zeigler and husband, Justin, Nikolas Wood and fiance, Courtney, Brendon Savage, Bryce Savage, Zach Hall, Corbin Hall and Parker Hall and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services are 10 a.m, Tuesday, September 18, 2018, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Boyd Savage and Billy Edwards officiating.  Burial will be in the Flat Creek Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Johnny Pierce, Travis Wallace, Jeff Myers, Ricky Meeks, James Tinnin and Jason Phillips.  Honorary pallbearers are Truck Drivers for Larco, Inc. 

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
